Antony Bui was born and has lived in San Jose, California, all his life . The culture of Silicon Valley revolved around innovation and technology. This inspired him to create many games while playing with his friends and even come up with new inventions that would be used around his household. The spark of creativity was always there and would switch between mediums. In grade school he would primarily use pencil and draw comics or doodles. His inspiration at the time was Garfield comics and drawn stories. Once he got his hands on a working computer at home, he began experimenting with video. With the technology that was available to him, he started working on making montages of his gameplay in the game “League of Legends” and “Call of Duty.” He was inspired to become a video editor or someone that would work on videos or story telling. He believes that everyone has a story to tell and everyone has an important part in someone’s crazy story.
At a young age Antony knew he wanted to become someone that worked on games or told stories that would express the stories that he came up with. He was always interested in other people’s lives and how they got there. Whether it be by pure luck or by hard work there was a story to be told. Learning about other people’s lives helped him understand the differences between his life. Creating video game art through pixels is what he enjoys doing and pixel animations.
Working on social problems is a common theme in his works and he tries to convey an emotional scene through each work. His preferred medium is retro looking art or pixel art. Playing Minecraft and working with illustrator has made it an art style that fit his simple and "clean" aesthetic. He believes that playing many indie or retro games has made him into the artist he is and hopes to carry on this "dying" artstyle.
